US stock futures retreated as Brent crude surged past $100 per barrel due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, sparking fresh inflation worries ahead of upcoming consumer and producer price reports. Despite the commodity shock, major stock indexes showed relative resilience, as investors weighed the looming Federal Reserve policy meeting against a busy slate of corporate catalysts.
Apple captured significant attention by launching its highly anticipated product event featuring the debut of a foldable iPhone and the iPhone 18 lineup, with Wall Street closely monitoring pricing strategies. Meanwhile, the Treasury department prepared to announce details on an expanded debt buyback program aimed at easing elevated long-term yields. Technology shares provided a steady cushion, led by continued strength in artificial intelligence stocks, even as individual companies faced sharp selloffs following mixed quarterly earnings reports and guidance.
The 10-year Treasury yield increased by 0.006 at 4.81%. The 2-year Treasury increased by 0.023 points at 4.421%.
