Indian Rupee Is Trading at 95.0400 Against US Dollar

Financial Market Overview

Indian Rupee

On Friday, the Indian rupee was trading at 95.0400 versus the US dollar. The Indian Rupee (INR) showed notable resilience against the US Dollar (USD), recovering sharply to near 95.00 despite a surge in oil prices caused by Middle East supply disruptions and tanker attacks. The USD/INR pair retreated after failing to maintain its gains above a recent peak of 95.38, even as MCX Crude Oil futures hit multi-month highs near Rs. 9,900. Higher energy costs typically weigh on net-importing economies like India, yet the Rupee managed to shrug off both these commodity headwinds and a rebound in 10-year US Treasury yields toward 4.93%. The US market environment was reinforced by robust Q3 Gross Domestic Product growth of 3.4% and an elevated core Personal Consumer Expenditures inflation rate of 3.1% year-on-year. From a technical standpoint, USD/INR remains mildly bearish in the short term while trading beneath its 20-period exponential moving average at 95.31, with immediate support identified around the June 25 low of 94.16.

Indian Equities

Indian equity benchmark indices shrugged off weak global cues and elevated crude oil prices to trade higher by midday on Friday, October 30, 2026. The BSE Sensex advanced roughly 350 to 400 points to trade around the 74,500 level, while the NSE Nifty 50 comfortably reclaimed the key 23,000 threshold, reaching near 23,050 to 23,100 during afternoon trade. Positive market momentum was primarily anchored by a solid surge in IT heavies following strong earnings news, alongside strong earnings-driven buying in Trent—which jumped over 6%—and robust performance from aviation major IndiGo. Defensive sectors such as IT and Pharma led sectoral gains, offsetting pressure seen in state-run lenders like SBI, heavyweights like Reliance Industries, and automotive stocks like Mahindra & Mahindra.
