Indian Rupee Finished The Day at 95.13

The Indian rupee closed at 95.13 on Tuesday in comparison to its previous closing 95.19 on Monday evening. Indian rupee fell by 25 paise to close at 95.19 against the US dollar, marking its third consecutive day of decline after a temporary recovery driven by central bank intervention the previous week. Fluctuating between 94.9050 and 95.2650 throughout the trading session, the currency faced mounting pressure from heightened month-end dollar demand, outflows linked to Jio Platforms, and high crude oil prices hovering near $115 per barrel that threaten to elevate India's import bill. Market experts anticipate ongoing volatility for the rupee as persistent global demand for dollars continues ahead of key upcoming central bank announcements, including decisions from the US Federal Reserve.
At close, the Sensex was down 8.08 points or 0.01 percent at 73,598.67, and the Nifty was down 3.45 points or 0.02 percent at 22,749.75.
About 2807 shares advanced, 1334 shares declined, and 179 shares unchanged.
Biggest Nifty gainers were Tata Consumer Products, Bharti Airtel, Trent, BSE Limited, Power Grid Corporation, while losers included Grasim Industries, SBI, Coal India, TCS and Asian Paints.
Indian equity benchmarks concluded a volatile monthly expiry session on a flat note with marginal losses as market participants remained cautious ahead of the upcoming United States Federal Reserve policy announcement. The Sensex finished slightly lower near 73,598 points, while the Nifty settled around 22,749 points, primarily weighed down by profit booking in information technology and private banking stocks. In contrast, broader market segments showed robust resilience, with midcap and smallcap indices outperforming the frontline gauges driven by selective buying interest across realty, pharmaceutical, media, and auto sectors. Corporate earnings announcements further steered individual stock trajectories during the day, highlighted by Bajaj Auto posting strong quarterly profit and revenue growth while Maruti Suzuki reported a notable net profit decline amid ongoing margin pressures. External macroeconomic headwinds, such as Brent crude remaining elevated near $115 per barrel due to supply disruption concerns and the Indian rupee hovering around 95.12 against the United States dollar, added to overall market anxiety, prompting financial analysts to advise a selective and disciplined trading approach until clearer monetary policy cues emerge.
